ITALIAN LANGUAGE I

This course covers the basics of Italian language and is most suited for students without or with very little knowledge of the idiom. Taught by native speaking Italian teachers with a perfect knowledge of English, the course aims to create a solid basis of conversational and reading expertise of the language.

PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Product development is one of the most important activities within any firm, and both Fashion and Design companies make no exception. The investment of resources required for product development can be only counter balanced by strategies, processes and methods that follow the birth of a new product from its idea to its development and market testing. FASHION BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

This course guides students in the steps required to start and run a successful Fashion business, giving them both financing and organizational directions while teaching aspects like those involved in managerial tasks, marketing supervision, licensing and branding, etc. The course will focus on managerial and organizational operations the way they actually work inside Fashion businesses, giving all the strategic guidelines to successfully run a small business Fashion firm.

In this course students will learn the different roles involved in Retail Management, including duties and supervising of human resources in the retail process. FASHION JOURNALISM

This course teaches the skills needed to write professionally and effectively for a targeted audience, analyzing Fashion magazines both in print and Web form and including the ever-growing trend of Fashion blogging and other media. Students will learn both newsgathering and news writing skills and will be able to act as fashion writers, fashion critics and fashion reporters for the media, merging their field journalism with cultural theory and emphasizing on visual communication.

DESIGN JOURNALISM

FASHION PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEO

The aim of this course is to give students working skills and a rigorous knowledge of digital DSLR photography and digital retouching with specialized software, while delving into the visual medium with its narrative build on light and dark, environment and gesture to better emphasize the style and personality of Fashion products. The same basics will allow students to learn the shooting of HD video for Fashion shows and portfolios, adding the skills of creative post production and professional editing techniques.

FASHION MARKETING AND ADVERTISING

In this course students will learn the basics of Fashion terminology and develop the ability to spot and forecast market trends, analyze and influence the consumer behavior and trace its profile, plan and develop marketing and promotion strategies both in a store and in a non-store retail environment. The course will also teach the fundamental of advertising in the primary and secondary markets, with a strong emphasis in participation to trade fairs and visits to fashion retailers.

FASHION SHOW MANAGEMENT

Managing a Fashion Show involves many aspects in every step of the process: from the live element of models to technical and environmental aspects like those of display and setting, both in the backstage and the stage/audience area. Building upon other course topics students will learn how to manage models’ look and walks/poses, effective timing of dressing and makeup in the backstage, ideal settings for the catwalk and best use of lights and sound.

FASHION MODEL MANAGEMENT

Building a perfect Fashion Model requires knowledge of several aspects and activities, from the physical details of hair and skin care, makeup or fitness and diet, to the psychological aspects of grooming and body language or the positive mental attitude required for a successful model career. Students will learn how to manage activities typically found in modeling agencies and casting couching, improving ramp and catwalk movements or portfolio poses, including basic acting.

TREND FORECAST

Fashion and Design Forecasting creates a competitive advantage for companies but requires a solid knowledge of past and current trends and the ability to perform effective market research and identify the target market and customer needs. In this course students will learn how to analyze trends and trend cycles to predict future trends, developing a personal strategy to stay informed about the industry and recognize current designers’ impact on the marketplace. They will also learn how to present and communicate their analysis and forecasts using the most effective visual tools and the most appropriate terminology and will be able to apply their creative and logical thought to analyze and synthetize data and draw and present conclusions.

COOL HUNTER

In this original and unique course students will learn how fashion trends rise and how to interpret them, using monitoring techniques (analysis of newspapers, magazines, web-sites, etc.) to collect useful elements for envisaging the new consumer trends. Students will also learn from the analysis of agencies and expos and, in particular, of the most famous Cool Hunters and their techniques. At the end of the course, the students will have to perceive by intuition, which will be the new scenarios of fashion in the future, and to elaborate their own fashion trends.
